National Small Business Week is one of our favorite times of the year. During this special week (and the other 51!), we can't help but be inspired by the stories of entrepreneurs like Tracey Taylor, Owner of The Blend LLC and lover of all things health and wellness. Tracey started The Blend LLC in the Spring of 2018 after spending countless hours at athletic events where minimal healthy options were offered to participants. Having always worked in the fitness space and wanting to provide healthier options to athletes, she bought a small school bus, converted it, and hit the streets of Buffalo to offer healthy, convenient options to the people of WNY. When asked who inspires her, Tracey replied, "All working mothers inspire me. I know how hard it is to strike the work/life/home balance while trying to make money, pursue your dreams, and raise a family." I've seen too many situations where no planning was done, and the families are left spending too much money and taking too much time dealing with a difficult situation while they are mourning the loss of a loved one." Chef Prasad’s culinary training began early, as he learned how to cook by his mother’s side. Inspired by food and hospitality, the eighteen-year-old bucked his family’s expectations to be a doctor and instead pursued an education at the Food Craft Institute of Poona, where he studied culinary arts and hotel & restaurant management. Later, after graduating first in his class at Food Craft, he became director of food and beverage at the Ritz, where, at the age of 22, he managed a workforce of 250 employees. When Chef Prasad moved to the United States in 1986, he had $100 in his pocket. Despite his wealth of experience, his first job was as a busboy, but his ambition and passion were unstoppable. Since then, he has been reviewed by the New York Times, Rosengarten Report, and the James Beard Foundation. M&T customer Chef Prasad is an inspiration during Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and beyond. In celebration of #FinancialLiteracyMonth, volunteers from M&T Bank teamed up with the Baltimore Ravens to host an array of activities for 60 fourth and fifth-grade students at George Washington Elementary School in Baltimore, Maryland, focused on money, savings, and investing for the future. This event was part of the ongoing "Financial Fitness Academy" initiative powered by EVERFI from Blackbaud which is designed to promote financial literacy and teach financial education skills. We're proud to share that The M&T Charitable Foundation announced a $10 million donation to College Track, an organization that equips students with the resources needed to support their collegiate journey and become the first in their family to earn a bachelor's degree.
